Chevrolet Opens Up the 2018 Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Cup Car

Earlier this summer, Mark Reuss, Executive Vice President of GM Global Development, was joined by Jimmie Johnson, seven-time Cup champion and driver of the number 48 Lowe's Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, and other luminaries to introduce the 2018 Camaro ZL1 -- Chevrolet's new Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racecar.

The vehicle is scheduled to make its competition debut during the Daytona Speedweeks in February, kicking off the 2018 NASCAR season. Chevrolet engineers used a variety of tools and technologies to optimize the vehicle's performance, building a vehicle that's capable of continuing the winning tradition of the Chevrolet SS, which has secured 70 Cup wins so far.

The 2018 Camaro ZL1 continues the vehicle's track-focused legacy, with a supercharged V8 engine that powers out a thrilling 650 horsepower delivering all the performance you could possibly want.

The Camaro ZL1 race car shown at the event is wearing the number 8, which was Louis Chevrolet's racing number.

In a press release, Reuss was quoted as saying, "Chevrolet, Camaro and ZL1 are all synonymous with winning, both on and off the track. We are thrilled to run Camaro in NASCAR next year, with the time-honored and track-tested ZL1 badge, and we’re just as excited for our drivers, teams, fans and customers."

At Reed Chevrolet, we're proud to serve drivers from the Saint Joseph, Platte City, Atchison KS and Leavenworth KS areas.
